Friktion
Friction is a massage technique that involves targeted, circular, or transverse pressure movements to release deep-seated tension and adhesions in the tissue. The term comes from Latin ("frictio") and means "rubbing." This technique is often performed with the fingertips, thumb, or palm and is particularly effective in treating localized muscle knots or fascial adhesions.
Friction is typically applied with moderate to strong pressure, using slow movements to penetrate deeper tissue layers. The intense mechanical stimulation increases blood circulation and cellular metabolism, which supports the healing process for muscular issues.
This technique is commonly used in sports massage, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue massage. It can be applied to treat acute muscle tension or aid recovery after physical exertion.
